As a member of a consortium of academic, clinical, and research programs known as CID at Washington University School of Medicine, the Washington University School of Medicine Program in Audiology and Communication Sciences (PACS) is affiliated with the Central Institute of the Deaf (CID) Oral School and Outreach Center. The PACS Program, originally part of Central Institute for the Deaf, was started in 1915 and in 1931, was the first program for training teachers of the deaf in the country to be affiliated with an accredited university. In 1947, the country’s first audiology program was established, first offering a Ph.D. and later adding a master’s program. Three degree programs are currently offered through PACS:
The Independent Studies and Capstones Collection contains papers produced by the students in the PACS program dating from 1938 to the present.
