The Division of General Medical Sciences (GMS) performs research in two broad areas: clinical epidemiology/outcomes research and biostatistics/genetic epidemiology. Within the area of clinical epidemiology/outcomes research, interests include outcomes assessment measures, evaluation of health intervention studies, the epidemiology of occupational diseases, medical informatics, evaluation of educational and community interventions, cost effectiveness analysis, risk prediction, patient communication, and treatment in prognostic issues related to antithrombotic therapy. Within biostatistics/genetic epidemiology research, interests include novel statistical methods for classification, analysis of complex data sets such as those derived from gene chips, and the use of genetic polymorphisms.

    Occupational Health and Safety research focuses on health, safety and welfare of the working population. Our research in Occupational Health and Safety aids in the identification, prevention and management of work-related injuries and illnesses.
